Can you design a beam to remove a load-bearing wall?
Yes. EEB sizes the replacement beam, bearing columns and footings and issues sealed drawings and calculations for the permit application.
Do you design steel lintels for new openings in block or concrete walls?
Yes, including HSS and angle lintels for new door and window openings in existing masonry and concrete walls.
Do you provide structural calculation packages for permits?
Yes, for conventional framing and for non-standard structures. EEB has, for example, analysed a geodesic dome foundation across multiple frost-depth scenarios.
Can you help with a change of use, such as a house converted to a daycare?
Yes. EEB confirms whether Part 3 or Part 9 of the Ontario Building Code applies and designs the structural modifications the new occupancy requires.
What do you need from me to quote structural work?
The address, photos of the wall or area affected, any existing drawings, approximate spans and floor or roof loads above, and what you want to change. A short site visit may be needed for alterations.
